Mail art (also known as Postal art or correspondence art) is a Populist artistic movement centered on sending small scale works through the Postal Service. It initially developed out of the Fluxus movement in the 1950’s and 60’s, though it has since developed into a global movement that continues to the present.
I discovered the mail art community through a simple web search and quite by accident. What drove me was the thought of getting something other than bills in the mail; having a sort of “art pin pals. The sending and receiving art through the mail has been a very rewarding experience as well as another avenue to show case some of my work to a larger audience. I have regularly showed work in traveling and fixed mail art shows around the world.
